Join Books & Books for an in-person author talk with Cuban-born scholar, poet and fiction writer Mabel Cuesta on Thursday, September 14 as she discusses her recently published book In Your Face, Papi! Arte, Política y Sociedad Civil en Cuba. Associate Professor of Spanish at the University of Miami Gema Pérez-Sánchez will be joining Cuesta in conversation. This primarily-Spanish language event will be hosted at Books & Books in Coral Gables.
Mabel Cuesta holds a Licenciatura in Hispanic Literatures from University of Havana, and a Doctorate from The Graduate Center, City University of New York. She is a US Latino and Spanish Caribbean Literature Professor at University of Houston, Texas since 2011.
Gema Pérez-Sánchez is Associate Professor of Spanish at the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at the University of Miami where she also teaches for the Women’s and Gender Studies Program and the Miami Institute for the Americas. Her research focuses on contemporary Spanish narrative, film, and popular urban culture; cultural studies; queer theory; and migration and transnational studies.
