Unsettled Futures
Apr 02, 2026
From: 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM
A panel discussion at the University of Miami examines how recent migration from Cuba is reshaping policy debates and community perspectives in South Florida. Unsettled Futures takes place Thursday, April 2 at the Roberto C. Goizueta Pavilion in the Otto G. Richter Library.
The program brings together voices from journalism, advocacy and the legal field to discuss how changing federal immigration policies are affecting newly arrived Cuban migrants and the broader Cuban-American community. Panelists will explore the evolving immigration landscape following a recent surge of Cuban migration to the United States and consider how policy changes and regional political developments may influence future migration patterns.
The conversation will also address how shifts in U.S.-Cuba relations and broader political developments in the region may shape migration dynamics and public debate in Miami and beyond. The discussion will be presented in both English and Spanish.
Organized by the University of Miami’s Cuban Heritage Collection and the Emilio Bacardí Moreau Chair in Cuban and Cuban-American Studies, the event is co-sponsored by the Wilbur L. and Jean L. Morrison Endowment for Cuban Studies.
