Sat & Sun: 8:30 PM | Sun: 5:00 PM
A solitary man's desire for escape unfolds in a remote southern town where memory, longing and the elements converge in this Argentine theatrical work.
Viento Blanco runs September 5-7 at the Koubek Center as part of the 39th International Hispanic Theatre Festival of Miami, presented by Teatro Avante. Written by Santiago Loza and directed by Juanse Rausch and Valeria Lois, the production features Mariano Saborido in a solo performance from Teatro Futuro of Buenos Aires.
The story follows Mario, who runs a hostel with his mother in an isolated town. After a friend's return and subsequent farewell, Mario grapples with his overwhelming desire to flee forever. Set against an icy sea with wind and chants, the work weaves together clerical eroticism, moments of humor and subtle melancholy in what the creators describe as "a kind of invocation."
This production will be performed in Spanish and represents Argentina's contribution to Miami's annual celebration of Hispanic theatre from across the Americas and Spain.
