We Met at Monday Night Movies
Mar 02, 2026
From: 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Short films by Haitian women directors set the stage for an evening of conversation, connection and community in Little Haiti. This installment of the Cine Amor series centers women’s voices and stories while creating space for dialogue under the stars.
We Met at Monday Night Movies takes place Monday, March 2 at Lakou.
The outdoor screening features “ESKWAD” by Keziah Jean, highlighting the solidarity of farmers’ organizations in Haiti, and “Querido Pequeño Haiti” by Diana Larrea, a cinematic love letter to the Little Haiti neighborhood. After the films, attendees break into small groups for facilitated discussions inspired by the themes of identity, resilience and collective care explored on screen. Music by DJ Mack follows, with time to mix and mingle.
As part of the We Met in Miami experience, guests can opt to wear wristbands indicating whether they are open to friendship, romance or LGBTQIA+ community connection. Caribbean food and a full bar will be available for purchase. The event is free and presented in collaboration with Lakou Miami, Haitian Cultural Arts Alliance, FePouLi, iWitness, IPC ArtSpace, FIU’s Public Humanities Lab and We Met in Miami.
