Weird Miami Tour With Yessica Gispert

A guided bus tour led by Miami-born artist Yessica Gispert explores the city’s cycles of death, rebirth and memory through sites connected to myth and history. Inspired by a mysterious concrete grave in the Miami City Cemetery, the tour traces shifting boundaries of loss and transformation in Downtown Miami while weaving personal and collective narratives.

The Weird Miami Bus Tour with Yessica Gispert: A Woman Encased in Concrete begins at YoungArts on Saturday, September 20, followed by the Weird Miami After Party + Book Launch at Mama Tried, where Bas Fisher Invitational and Exile Books will debut the new Weird Miami Tours Book.

Yessica Gispert is a Miami-based visual artist whose practice engages mythology and mysticism through transformative processes in materials such as wax, metal and photochemistry. Her work has been exhibited at MoMA PS1, Museum Abteiberg and A.I.R Gallery, among others, and she is currently a Visiting Associate Professor in Photography at Florida International University and artist in residence at the Deering Estate.
