Wellness in the Wilderness
Feb 28, 2026 - Mar 02, 2026
Starting: 09:00 AM
Wellness in the Wilderness is a three-day immersive retreat centered on mindful movement, environmental stewardship and self-reflection in two of South Florida’s most ecologically significant landscapes.
Hosted by author and Hiking My Feelings founder Sydney Williams, the retreat unfolds across Biscayne National Park and Everglades National Park, with Homestead serving as the closest city and primary meeting area. The experience blends guided outdoor exploration with intentional wellness practices, inviting participants to slow down, reconnect with nature and engage more deeply with themselves and the land. Programming includes a shoreline cleanup at Elliott Key, kayaking through the mangrove-lined waters of Florida Bay, a guided cypress dome wet hike and reflective group discussions woven throughout the journey.
Participants are based at the Flamingo Campground in Everglades National Park, staying in eco-tents overlooking Florida Bay. Registration includes lodging, park-to-park transportation, guided activities, equipment and most meals, allowing guests to focus fully on the experience. Each day begins with mindfulness practices and ends with time for rest and reflection, balancing physical activity with restoration and community connection.
Wellness in the Wilderness takes place February 28 through March 2, beginning at the Dante Fascell Visitor Center in Biscayne National Park. The retreat is open to adults 21 and over and is best suited for those comfortable with moderate physical activity, including kayaking and hiking in wet environments.
