Mar 17, 2026
Starting: 6:30 PM
An internationally recognized wildlife advocate shares frontline conservation stories during Zoo Miami’s Wild Tales speaker series. Wild Tales with Kartick Satyanarayan takes place on Tuesday, March 17 in the Florida Room at Zoo Miami, offering insight into elephant protection efforts in India.
Satyanarayan is the co-founder of Wildlife SOS, one of India’s largest wildlife rescue and rehabilitation organizations. Established in 1995, Wildlife SOS began as a small rescue initiative in New Delhi and has grown into a nationwide operation with 12 rescue centers dedicated to protecting wildlife, conserving habitat and supporting sustainable community livelihoods.
During the program, Satyanarayan will discuss efforts to protect India’s elephants, including rescuing injured and malnourished animals, removing abused elephants from exploitative conditions and providing long-term care in rehabilitation centers. He will also explore the broader challenges of human-wildlife coexistence and the organization’s threefold approach: conservation of wild populations and habitat, rescue and rehabilitation of displaced wildlife, and research to improve protection strategies.
The event is part of Zoo Miami’s ongoing Wild Tales series, which highlights global conservation leaders working to safeguard biodiversity while addressing the complex relationship between wildlife protection and community sustainability.
