William Osorio Open Studio
This event has passed.
An open studio evening offers a behind-the-scenes look at an artist’s creative process within an academic setting.
William Osorio Open Studio marks the final public event of the Miami-based artist’s residency at Miami Dade College’s Padrón Campus Art Gallery, presenting recent works developed during his time on campus alongside opportunities for conversation with the artist. Visitors are invited to step into the studio environment to observe works in progress and engage in dialogue around process, multidisciplinary practice and the role of artists within learning institutions.
Born in Holguín, Cuba, and now based in Miami, Osorio’s work explores themes of migration, identity and power through painting and mixed media. Drawing from art history, literature and psychology, his practice often reinterprets myth while addressing contemporary social questions. While known primarily as a painter, his recent work expands across media and includes personal subject matter, from portraits of Cuban literary figures to reflections on family and fatherhood.
The open studio takes place Wednesday, February 4. Refreshments will be served, and free parking is available on campus.
