Sep 20, 2025
Starting: 8:00 PM
An evening of rhythm, song and storytelling highlights the artistry of women from across the Caribbean and its diaspora at the Koubek Center.
Women of the Caribbean takes place Saturday, September 20, headlined by Cuban drummer and composer Yissy García, whose work fuses Afro-Cuban traditions with jazz, funk and electronic music. García, serving as musical director, is joined by a diverse lineup including Haitian American singer and storyteller Inez Barlatier; the Grammy-nominated Cuban duo OKAN; Colombian percussionist Gilma Ospina; Venezuelan percussionist Martha Paredes; and Miami-born pop-soul vocalist Victoria Blue.
The program also features Cuban rapper and spoken word artist Telmary and bassist Tailin Marrero, known for her performances with Jane Bunnett & Maqueque. Together, these artists bring forward a powerful evening of performance that reflects cultural roots while embracing contemporary sounds.
