World Happiness Day Picnic, Paint & Meditate
Mar 22, 2026
From: 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM
A nature-based gathering combines mindful practices, creative activities and outdoor relaxation in a sanctuary setting designed to encourage calm and reflection.
World Happiness Day Picnic, Paint & Meditate takes place at Patch of Heaven Sanctuary and centers on a guided, three-hour experience that blends meditation, art and time in nature. The program includes a picnic-style gathering, a simple rock-painting activity focused on themes of joy and a guided “Be the Butterfly” meditation. Participants also have access to the sanctuary’s Casa Mariposa butterfly house and Flight House, where butterflies are raised and released.
The event aligns with the annual release of the United Nations World Happiness Report and draws inspiration from research on awe and well-being associated with the UC Berkeley Greater Good Science Center. The experience is led by Suzanne Jewell, chief experience officer at Patch of Heaven Sanctuary and a certified mindfulness meditation teacher and forest therapy guide.
This gathering takes place Sunday, March 22. Comfortable clothing, walking shoes and a refillable water bottle are recommended.
