Cuban American artist Edel Rodriguez’s journey from exile to expression takes center stage in this intimate exhibition at the Coral Gables Museum.
On view November 20 through January 25, Worm: A Cuban American Odyssey presents original drawings from Rodriguez’s acclaimed graphic memoir, which recounts his family’s flight from Cuba during the 1980 Mariel boatlift and his coming of age as an artist and activist in the United States. Presented in conjunction with the Miami Book Fair, the exhibition also features source materials, photographs and personal artifacts that illuminate the creative process behind the book and the lived experience that inspired it.
Through bold imagery and deeply personal storytelling, Worm captures the resilience of one family and the broader Cuban American odyssey that continues to shape Miami’s cultural identity.
