Macedonia was founded in 1895 by African-American residents of Coconut Grove. It was originally named St. Agnes Baptist Church and later renamed Macedonia in 1922. Built in 1903, it holds the honor of being the oldest African-American church in the Coconut Grove Village West community. On November 21, 2010 the church celebrated its 115th anniversary. Joined in prayer, the members of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church carry on the traditions that began more than a century ago.
