America Touched, America Seen

Artists who are blind or visually impaired explore touch, movement, imagination and national identity in an intergenerational exhibition at the Coral Gables Museum. Opening Saturday, September 19 and remaining on view through November 1, America Touched, America Seen brings together collaborative and individual works created in partnership with Miami Lighthouse for the Blind.

The exhibition features work by participants in the SGA adult art program, second- and third-grade students from Miami Lighthouse Academy and five individual adult artists. Created through collaborative sessions, the pieces reflect personal responses to materials and ideas while highlighting art-making as a shared, tactile experience.

Presented as part of the museum and Miami Lighthouse’s America 250 programming, the exhibition considers community, resilience, belonging and the American story, with soccer also serving as a recurring point of connection.
