A documentary screening and panel discussion explores how individuals across the United States define and pursue the American Dream. Taking place Wednesday, April 15 at Miami Dade College’s West Campus, AMERIGO: The Search for the American Dream is presented by South Florida PBS in advance of the nation’s 250th anniversary. The program brings together film, conversation and community perspectives in a campus setting.
The documentary follows a cross-country journey through all 50 states, capturing personal stories that reflect the country’s diversity, challenges and aspirations. Through interviews with everyday Americans, the film examines how ideas of opportunity, identity and success continue to evolve across different regions and communities.
Following the screening, a panel discussion features narrator and producer David McCourt alongside Zoo Miami’s Ron Magill and Virtutem Populo Executive Director Clint John Jr., moderated by Olga Villaverde. The conversation expands on the film’s themes and invites audience reflection, with light refreshments provided prior to the program.
