An Evening with Adam Johnson takes place Friday, October 10, at 7 p.m. The novel follows Kōrero, a young girl from a remote Tongan island, who sets out on a perilous voyage after her people are offered a choice between starvation at home or uncertain refuge abroad. Blending oral history, magical elements and historical drama, Johnson crafts an immersive story of resilience, betrayal and the search for belonging. Tickets include admission and a copy of the book, with single and dual guest options available.
Adam Johnson is the author of The Orphan Master’s Son, winner of the Pulitzer Prize, as well as Fortune Smiles, which won the National Book Award. His work has also received the Story Prize, the Dayton Literary Peace Prize and the California Book Award. A member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, Johnson teaches creative writing at Stanford University and lives in San Francisco with his family.
