An Evening with Kai Bird and Susan Goldmark

Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer Kai Bird and researcher Susan Goldmark discuss their new biography of attorney and political fixer Roy Cohn at Books & Books in Coral Gables. The Tuesday, September 8 conversation centers on American Scoundrel: Roy Cohn’s Dark Journey from Joe McCarthy to Donald Trump, published by Scribner on September 1.

The book traces Cohn’s career from his role in the prosecution of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg and his work as chief counsel to Senator Joseph McCarthy through his later prominence in New York legal and political circles and his mentorship of Donald Trump. Bird previously shared the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for Biography with Martin J. Sherwin for American Prometheus, while Goldmark led the research for their new book.
