Art, Corals and Oceanography
Apr 23, 2026
From: 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Contemporary art and ocean science intersect in an evening of talks and exhibitions exploring marine ecosystems and climate impact. Taking place Thursday, April 23 at Arlo Wynwood, the program brings together artists, scientists and community advocates for a multidisciplinary Earth Day event. The evening centers on the unveiling of two new works by Miami-based artist Gustavo Oviedo, whose practice draws inspiration from underwater environments.
Oviedo will open the program with insights into his creative process, followed by presentations from Devon Ledbetter of Rescue a Reef, who focuses on community-driven coral conservation, and Andrei Steyn of Students for Coral Preservation, offering a youth-led perspective on environmental advocacy. Dr. Lisa Beal, a professor of oceanography at the University of Miami, provides scientific context on ocean systems and their role in global climate dynamics.
Guests can explore the artwork, engage with speakers and connect with fellow attendees throughout the evening. The event is presented by 131 Projects and takes place in an intimate setting with limited seating.
