Artists in Conversation: Preludes & Etudes by Scriabin
May 03, 2026
From: 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM
Russian pianist Ilya Itin explores Alexander Scriabin’s Preludes and Études, works that span the composer’s three stylistic periods and chart a path from late-Romantic lyricism to mystical modernism. Known for his commanding technique and interpretive depth, Itin brings Scriabin’s music to life with a balance of power, color and imagination.
These short forms are central to Scriabin’s output, combining virtuosity with poetic intensity, and are often viewed as a window into his evolving artistic vision. Together, they trace his journey from Chopin-inspired miniatures to harmonically adventurous works that anticipate the innovations of the 20th century.
Winner of the Gold Medal at the 1996 Leeds International Piano Competition, Itin has since built an international career that includes concerto appearances with the Cleveland Orchestra, London Philharmonic and St. Petersburg Philharmonic, as well as acclaimed solo recitals from Carnegie Hall to Tokyo. His recordings of Debussy, Rachmaninov and Prokofiev have been widely praised for their insight and expressive range.
Artists in Conversation: Preludes & Études by Scriabin – Ilya Itin takes place Sunday, May 3, 2026 at the Miami Beach Woman’s Club.
