Beats in Black Opening Reception & Fridays Jazz in the Gardens

Student artwork tracing the history and influence of Black music opens alongside an evening of live jazz at The ARC in Opa-locka. The free event takes place Friday, July 17 and is presented by Ten North Group.

Created by participants in the Art of Transformation Youth Enrichment Program, Beats in Black features original works inspired by African rhythms, gospel, jazz, blues, soul, R&B and hip-hop. The opening reception includes opportunities to meet the young artists and complimentary light refreshments.

Fridays Jazz in the Gardens follows with live music under the stars. Guests may also attend the program’s End of Summer Showcase earlier that day from 4 to 6 p.m. Registration is encouraged.
