Beyond the Pages: Nylon

A synthetic fiber’s transformation from technological innovation to fashion staple provides the focus for a discussion of design, industry and 20th-century consumer culture. The program takes place Friday, January 8 at The Wolfsonian-FIU in Miami Beach. Part of the museum’s Beyond the Pages series, the conversation examines Susannah Handley’s Nylon: The Story of a Fashion Revolution through objects and themes represented in The Wolfsonian’s collection.

Chief librarian Frank Luca will lead the discussion of how nylon reshaped clothing, manufacturing and everyday life while reflecting broader changes in technology and society. The program is free with advance registration.
