Black Miami History Tour

Black history across Miami comes into focus during a guided bus tour led by historian Dr. Marvin Dunn. Presented Saturday, October 24 by the Miami Center for Racial Justice, the Black Miami History Tour travels through Coconut Grove, Downtown Miami, Liberty City, Little Haiti and Overtown, connecting neighborhoods and landmarks with the people, institutions and events that shaped Black life in the city.
Stops and points of interest include Coconut Grove’s Bahamian enclave, the Segregation Wall, Charlotte Jane Memorial Cemetery, Fort Dallas, Liberty Square, the Arthur McDuffie Historic Marker and the Black Police Precinct and Courthouse Museum. In Historic Overtown, the route highlights sites including the Dana Dorsey House, Ward Rooming House and Lyric Theater.
Motor coach transportation and guided commentary are included. Advance reservations are required, with ticket sales closing three days before departure. Proceeds support the Miami Center for Racial Justice’s work preserving and sharing Black history through cultural education.
