Bridges of Sound

An evening of historically informed performance traces the stylistic journey from the ornamented drama of the Baroque to the luminous clarity of the Classical era.

Bridges of Sound: Music from the Baroque to the Classical Style features the Libiamo Antiqua Ensemble, a group devoted to 17th- and 18th-century repertoire performed directly from manuscripts, facsimiles and critical urtext editions. The program highlights the evolution of sound across centuries, from expressive Baroque ornament to the elegance of the Galant style and early Classical traditions, with selections by defining composers of each period. Brief introductory talks precede each section, offering insight into the works and their historical context.
