CAP Summer Series: Kate Kortum

Jazz vocalist Kate Kortum closes this year’s CAP Summer Concert Series with an evening performance in Coral Gables. CAP Summer Series: Kate Kortum takes place Thursday, August 20 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Coral Gables Congregational United Church of Christ. Kortum is the 2025 winner of the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, a major platform for emerging jazz singers.

Known for bringing fresh interpretive detail to familiar repertoire, Kortum represents a new generation of jazz vocalists with a growing national profile. Jazz Journal UK has noted that her interpretive skills make familiar music sound fresh, pointing to a performance style shaped by phrasing, musical sensitivity and a strong connection to the jazz tradition.

Presented by the Community Arts Program, the concert concludes a summer series that has brought classical and jazz artists to Coral Gables since 1985. Performances take place inside Coral Gables Congregational United Church of Christ, a historic Spanish Revival-style church located across from the Biltmore Hotel and known for its intimate acoustic setting.
