Traditional jazz takes center stage in Coral Gables with saxophonist Langston Hughes II and a small ensemble. CAP Summer Series: Langston Hughes II takes place Thursday, June 25 at Coral Gables Congregational United Church of Christ. Presented as part of the annual Community Arts Program Summer Concert Series, the performance features Hughes with William Hill III on piano, Eytan Schillinger-Hyman on bass and Beckett Miles on drums.
Hughes is recognized as an emerging saxophone talent, with All About Jazz noting his “emotion-evoking sound and style.” The quartet’s program is centered on traditional jazz, offering an intimate concert experience shaped by saxophone-led melodies, rhythm section interplay and the acoustics of the historic church setting.
The CAP Summer Concert Series has presented classical and jazz artists in Coral Gables since 1985. Performances take place at Coral Gables Congregational United Church of Christ, a Spanish Revival-style church located across from the Biltmore Hotel. Same-day online ticket purchases must be made by 4 p.m.; tickets may also be ordered by phone through the Community Arts Program.
