Captura y Fuga by José Manuel Álvarez
Jun 14, 2026
Starting: 5:00 PM
Flamenco intersects with photography and digital media in a contemporary dance performance inspired by the archival work of photographer René Robert at the Adrienne Arsht Center. Presented by Siudy Flamenco Company, Captura y Fuga by José Manuel Álvarez takes place Sunday, June 14 and reimagines Robert’s images of flamenco through live movement and multimedia staging.
Drawing from Robert’s decades-long photographic documentation of the art form, the production explores the fleeting moment when a photograph is captured and translates it into choreography. Álvarez serves as director, conceptualist and performer, working with co-director and co-author Marta Piñol and a multidisciplinary team that includes visual artist Fausto Morales (Slide Media), composer Josep Tutusaus, musician Lucas Balbo and sound designer Cristina López. Through choreography, original music and projected visuals, the performance creates a dialogue between archival imagery and contemporary interpretation.
Ticket buyers who also purchase admission to The Creative Process – Flamenco Beyond Tradition may receive a 20 percent discount when both performances are included in the same order.
