Back for its 11th year, this two-week festival celebrates Greater Miami & Miami Beach’s Hispanic and Indigenous LGBTQ+ community with memorable events.

Celebrate Orgullo, Greater Miami & Miami Beach’s first Hispanic and Indigenous LGBTQ+ Pride Festival, is back for its 11th edition. There’s no better way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and Greater Miami & Miami Beach’s diversity and history as an LGBTQ+ paradise.

This year, 15 days of events will dive into the theme of “The Art of Illusion – How the Art of Drag, Creativity, Talent and Self-Expression Influence Our Daily Lives.” Read on for some standout events on Celebrate Orgullo’s fabulous calendar, taking place from October 1-15.

October 1: Dragtivism LGBTQ+ Town Hall Rights Forum (Virtual Event)

Kick off the festival with this important conversation with LGBTQ+ community leaders from around the world. Voices on the panel come from Colombia, Mexico, Los Angeles, Miami and beyond. Topics will include international civil rights issues, challenges facing the community, and how to look to the future and work to make the world a better place. The hostess is Samantha LeTroy, and this bilingual event is free and held virtually so that everyone can participate.

October 2: ArtDiva Bus Tour Halls of Drag Exhibit

The in-person fun begins on October 2 with the ArtDiva Bus Tour Halls of Drag Exhibit. For $30, you’ll hop on a luxury chartered bus, head to the Drag Gallery Exhibit at Pridelines, and take a tour with a surprise host (in drag, of course). The exhibit showcases the costumes of Greater Miami & Miami Beach’s most iconic divas, including Adora, TP Lords, Shanaya, Marytrini, CC Glitzer and Sasha Lords, shining a light on the talent in the local LGBTQ+ community. Light bites and a Q&A session with the featured divas are included.

October 6: Queen of Drag 1850, William Dorsey Swann Party at Hampton House

For an evening you won’t forget, buy a ticket to the William Dorsey Swann Party at Hampton House. This event celebrates an American gay liberation icon, William Dorsey Swann, who was born into slavery, led a queer resistance group, and eventually coined the term “queen of drag,” paving the way for so many who came after him. Enjoy an interpretive dance performance choreographed by Randolph Ward, a LAHLO Men’s Swimwear apparel fashion show, and more. There will also be tours of the Historic Hampton House, plus dancing, drinks and more. Tickets are $40 per person.

October 8: Dragalympics Roller Derby Wars

Ready to revel in some competition? Head to Dezerland Park, which will host Roller Derby Wars by DJ Adora and CC Glitzer. There will be a roller-skating contest, a lip-synching competition, and so much more. Snap a photo in the more than 24 selfie rooms, all set up to make you feel like the diva you are. Tickets are $40 and include skate rental, a drink ticket for the Bacardi bar, and appetizers.

October 9: ArtDiva Bus Tour Backstage

ArtDiva Bus Tours is back with an exciting tour giving you access to the backstage happenings at the Adrienne Arsht Center. This luxury bus tour will take you to the iconic performing arts center, where you’ll go backstage and get a VIP tour. You’ll even get to walk out on the stage and take a moment to live your own Broadway dreams. Your drag diva hostess, Nelly Norell, will entertain on the bus. Afterward, take part in a Q&A session with drag divas and perhaps even a makeover for a lucky guest or two. Tickets are $30.

October 15: Night of a 1,000ish Stars Concert and Drive-In Movie

Back at Dezerland Park, it’s a night to remember. Night of 1,000ish Stars will feature a concert and drive-in movie with a screening of Miami Beach’s most iconic and beloved queer film, “The Birdcage.” There are scheduled appearances by DJ Adora, CC Glitzer, Kishi Chad, John Buckley, and a Legends Honors Award Ceremony with Randolph Ward. That’s not all: Patrick & the Swayzees will play live music to get your groove on, and 80s freestyle queen CYNTHIA will perform, along with Richie Rosario and Imperium the First. Tickets are $40 per car.
