Cielo Tejido
May 08, 2026 - Jul 31, 2026
A handwoven canopy of color transforms Giralda Plaza into an open-air public art installation in downtown Coral Gables. On view through July, Cielo Tejido invites residents and visitors to walk beneath a patterned “woven sky” while exploring the plaza’s surrounding restaurants and shops. The installation brings a new visual landmark to one of the city’s pedestrian gathering spaces.
Created by artisans from Etzatlán, Mexico in partnership with the Consulate of Mexico in Miami, the installation brings traditional weaving techniques into a contemporary civic setting. Its suspended forms cast shifting patterns of color and light across Giralda Plaza, connecting craft, culture and public space.
Cielo Tejido is the first installation in the Giralda Sky Series, a two-part rotating art series for the plaza. A second installation, Giralda in Bloom: A Floral Canopy, is scheduled to debut in August with hundreds of floral-patterned umbrellas suspended overhead.
