Cooking con Omi: An Evening with Omi Hopper

Puerto Rican food traditions, family memory and cultural connection come together in a cookbook conversation with food entrepreneur and content creator Omi Hopper. The event takes place Tuesday, August 18 at Books & Books in Coral Gables, marking the release of her debut cookbook, Cooking con Omi.

Featuring 100 classic and U.S.-influenced Latino recipes, the book spans dishes such as mofongo, pernil, sancocho, guava-and-cheese French toast and chocolate dulce de leche flancocho. Personal essays, ingredient histories and full-color photography accompany the recipes, tracing how cooking helped Hopper maintain her connection to Puerto Rico after moving to the mainland.

Hopper is the creator of the Cooking Con Omi platform and a former semifinalist on Next Level Chef. Admission is $32.99 plus tax and includes entry for one guest and one copy of the book.
