Cuban Soul: A Meet & Greet and Book Signing with Mika Leon

Chef and restaurateur Mika Leon shares the family stories and Cuban flavors behind her first cookbook during an intimate signing at Books & Books in Coral Gables. Taking place Monday, October 12, the event marks the release of Cuban Soul, a collection of 100 recipes shaped by Leon’s Miami upbringing, family history and work as the founder of Caja Caliente. The evening includes a brief meet-and-greet, photo opportunity and book signing.

Cuban Soul pairs homestyle recipes with personal memories and background on Cuban culinary traditions. Dishes range from beef empanadas, pan con bistec and camarones enchilados to vaca frita, lechón asado and arroz con leche, reflecting the Caribbean influences and family cooking traditions that inform Leon’s approach.

Leon has worked in South Florida kitchens for more than a decade and has appeared on Food Network programs including Tournament of Champions, Guy’s Grocery Games, Beat Bobby Flay and Chopped. Admission is $35 plus tax and includes entry for one guest and one copy of Cuban Soul. The upstairs event room accommodates up to 40 guests and is accessible only by stairs.
