From: 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM
Gold Medal winner of the 2018 Hamamatsu Competition, Can Çakmur has quickly established himself as a pianist of striking sensitivity and individuality. His interpretations have been praised as both supple and penetrating, qualities that have earned him appearances with major orchestras in Europe and Japan as well as at leading festivals in his native Turkey.
Discovery Series: Can Çakmur takes place Sunday, January 25 at The Wolfsonian-FIU, presented by the Miami International Piano Festival. Born in Ankara in 1997, Çakmur studied in Paris and Weimar while building an international profile through collaborations with renowned conductors and chamber musicians. In addition to his concert career, he is an avid writer and speaker, contributing to Andante Classical Music Magazine and moderating talks that broaden access to classical music. His recital marks a highlight of the festival’s 27th season, offering audiences a rare opportunity to hear one of today’s most compelling young pianists in an intimate museum setting.
