Dramatically Speaking at The Hub: An Evening with Mera & Don Rubell

Contemporary art collectors Mera and Don Rubell discuss how they discover artists, assess authenticity and value and approach the responsibility of preserving culture. Held Monday, November 2 at The Hub at Temple Beth Am in Pinecrest, the conversation is moderated by playwright Jessica Provenz and connects to themes explored in GableStage’s production of True Art.

The program considers the stories behind the Rubells’ contemporary art collection while returning to a central question: what gives art lasting significance? Topics include collecting practices, relationships with artists and the cultural role of private collections.

The event is part of GableStage’s Dramatically Speaking series, now entering its sixth season and presented in partnership with The Hub at Temple Beth Am. The free public series brings artists, scholars and community leaders into conversation around themes inspired by GableStage productions. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the discussion beginning at 7:30 p.m.
