A community-wide celebration in Surfside brings together environmental education and hands-on activities for Earth Month. Taking place Sunday, April 19, the Earth Day Resource Fair & Plastic Fishing Festival unfolds across the Surfside Community Center and nearby beach locations.
The Earth Day Resource Fair, held from 10 a.m. to noon at the community center, features sustainability-focused vendors, local organizations and interactive activities, along with a live performance by the Recycled Orchestra. The program highlights eco-friendly initiatives and resources aimed at promoting environmental awareness.
Simultaneously, the Plastic Fishing Festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 93rd Street Beach, where participants collect plastic waste and repurpose it into creative sculptures. Hosted by Plastic Fisherman, the activity combines beach cleanup efforts with art-making, encouraging engagement with issues related to ocean pollution.
