Edgar Pantoja Quartet

Cuban pianist and composer Edgar Pantoja brings a mix of son, rumba, timba and Latin jazz to Lummus Park with a quartet built around improvisation. The Sunday, October 11 performance is part of the Ocean Drive Promenade Music Series’ Hispanic Heritage Month programming, a lineup highlighting Latin fusion, Cuban and Afro-Cuban sounds on Miami Beach.

Born in Santiago de Cuba, Pantoja is a pianist, arranger, composer and music educator whose work connects traditional Cuban forms with jazz, funk, samba and other global influences. He has toured and collaborated with artists including Rubén Blades, David Murray and Angélique Kidjo and has worked as a pianist, keyboardist and arranger with percussionist Pedrito Martínez.

The free outdoor concert takes place in Lummus Park between 14th Street and 14th Place. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnics, with The Betsy serving as the rainy-day location. The weekly series is presented by the Ocean Drive Association with support from the City of Miami Beach and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau.
