Film Viewing and Author Talk: Farming While Black takes place Wednesday, February 18 at the Miami Dade College Meek Center, Room 1103, as part of Miami Dade College’s Black History Month programming marking its 100-year anniversary. The program features a screening focused on a new generation of Black farmers alongside a talk with Leah Penniman, author of Farming While Black and co-founder of Soul Fire Farm.
Through historical context and present-day storytelling, the film and discussion explore the dramatic decline of Black-owned farms in the United States and the efforts of farmers reclaiming agricultural knowledge rooted in African traditions.
