Filmgate Festival: Films With Subtitles

Short films in multiple languages spotlight Florida-based filmmakers and locally produced stories, with English subtitles provided throughout the program. The monthly FilmGate Festival takes place Wednesday, July 29 at Silverspot Cinema. Presented by FilmGate Miami, the evening combines screenings with opportunities for filmmakers, performers and other members of South Florida’s creative community to connect.

• Last Thread, directed by Robert Potter and Meilin Quilez
• How to Say Hi to Your Friends., directed by Louis Akkermans
• Gum in Red, directed by Lorenzo Patanè and Alessandra Rucco
• The Art of Making the Simple, Complicated., directed by Karla Enriqueta Noriega and Maria Jose Noriega
• Passion to Plate, directed by Natalia Gomez
• Good Night, directed by Julian Morales
• ¿Y Tú Qué Has Hecho?, directed by Paolo Cesti
• The Glass Child, directed by Iñaki Amechazurra

Pre- and post-screening networking bookends the program, while the Percolator segment gives attendees 60 seconds to introduce a skill, project or collaboration opportunity. A filmmaker Q&A follows the screenings, and an awards ceremony closes the evening with the presentation of Best Film of the Night. Ticket holders must be seated by 7 p.m.; unclaimed seats may be released to the rush line beginning at 7:20 p.m.
