Music of Shakespeare’s world comes alive in The Food of Love - Songs, Dances & Fancies for Shakespeare, presented by the Baltimore Consort at FIU Music Festival 2025. Known for their spirited interpretations of Renaissance music, the ensemble brings together lute, cittern, viols and flute with soprano Danielle Svonavec performing songs such as It Was a Lover and His Lass, Where the Bee Sucks, Full Fathom Five and The Willow Song.
The program also features instrumental consort music and lively dances drawn from or inspired by the Bard’s plays, highlighting the group’s colorful arrangements and historically informed performance style. Since its founding in 1980, the Baltimore Consort has toured internationally and earned a reputation as one of the leading American ensembles specializing in early music.
FIU Music Festival 2025: Baltimore Consort takes place Friday, October 31 at the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center.
