Starting: 07:00 PM
A century of music and storytelling comes to life in this staged cabaret celebrating the enduring legacy of composer Kurt Weill, whose work bridged opera, theater and social commentary.
Tracing Weill’s journey from his early successes in Germany to his prolific years in the United States, Berlin to Broadway with Kurt Weill features more than 40 songs written in collaboration with lyricists such as Bertolt Brecht, Ira Gershwin and Alan Jay Lerner. Audiences will hear classics from The Threepenny Opera, Lady in the Dark, Lost in the Stars and more, including “Mack the Knife,” “September Song” and “The Saga of Jenny.”
The production stars Rose Kearin, Elise Quagliata, Ben Gulley and Lovell Rose, directed by Ali Tallman with music direction by Orchestra Miami’s Artistic Director Elaine Rinaldi, leading a six-piece live ensemble.
Berlin to Broadway with Kurt Weill, presented by Orchestra Miami, takes place at the Sanctuary of the Arts on Saturday, November 22 at 7 p.m., commemorating both the 125th anniversary of Weill’s birth and the 75th year since his passing.
