From Venice with Love
Aug 01, 2026
From: 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Edouard Duval-Carrié’s explorations of migration, memory and Vodou symbolism anchor a retrospective opening at The Betsy in Miami Beach. The opening reception takes place Saturday, August 1, from 8 to 10 p.m. in The Betsy Gallery, following the Haitian-born artist’s participation in the 61st Venice Biennale.
Duval-Carrié’s work reexamines Caribbean history through luminous imagery, layered materials and references to migration, spirituality and cultural memory. Live music by the Simon Mogul Jazz Quartet featuring bassist Curtis Lundy accompanies the evening.
The exhibition remains on view through November 15, with public gallery hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors may enter through 1433 Collins Avenue. Throughout August, related programming extends across the hotel with nightly large-scale video projections on The Betsy Orb and an illuminated installation in B Bar.
