Frost Bella Voce & Symphonic Choir
Apr 14, 2026
Starting: 7:30 PM
An intimate evening of choral music draws inspiration from the architecture and acoustics of its setting, echoing the spatial traditions of the Venetian cori spezzati style.
Frost Bella Voce and the Frost Symphonic Choir perform under the direction of Matthew Brady, with Anita Castiglione at the piano, in a program shaped by antiphonal textures and resonant interplay between vocal groups. The historic practice of cori spezzati, developed in Renaissance Venice, placed choirs in separate locations within a church to create dramatic call-and-response effects and layered harmonies. This concert reimagines that approach within an intimate recital setting, highlighting the expressive range and tonal depth of the Frost School’s choral ensembles.
The performance takes place on Tuesday, April 14 at the Newman Recital Hall in the University of Miami’s Knight Center for Music Innovation.
