High Tide Low Tide Exhibition
Sep 12, 2026 - Nov 08, 2026
From: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Site-responsive paintings, movement performances and shoreline-inspired installations unfold across Deering Estate in a multi-part project by Miami-based artist Mette Tommerup. Running September 12 through November 8, High Tide Low Tide follows the rhythm of the sea through five public interventions that reveal, conceal and reframe the estate’s landscape. Rooted in Miami’s tidal geography and Tommerup’s Scandinavian heritage, the project expands painting beyond the wall into trees, pathways, lawns and performance spaces.
Tommerup is known for monumental painting installations that transform architecture and civic sites into immersive fields of color, gesture and movement. Born in Denmark and based in Miami, she has exhibited across South Florida, nationally and internationally, with recent projects at the Frost Art Museum FIU, Locust Projects and Denmark’s Køng Museum. Her work is held in collections including Pérez Art Museum Miami, the Frost Art Museum FIU, the Lowe Art Museum and the Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places Collection.
