Hispanic Heritage Concert by Susana Behar

Bolero, son and other Latin American and Spanish traditions shape an intimate concert by Cuban-born, Miami-based vocalist Susana Behar at the Deering Estate. Presented Sunday, October 25 in the Visitor Center Theater, the program brings Behar together with a six-member ensemble for a musical exploration of heritage, migration and cultural exchange.

Behar, a Deering Estate Artist-in-Residence since 2023, draws on her Cuban Sephardic roots, years in Venezuela and Miami’s multicultural landscape in a repertoire that crosses Latin American, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and contemporary influences. The concert features Michel Gonzalez on guitar, Adolfo Herrera on percussion and vocals, Magela Herrera on flute and vocals, Javier Espinoza on bass and special guest Simone Levy on bass.

A reception follows the performance. Tickets are $30, with a discount available to Deering Estate Foundation members.
