In Harmony: Schumann, Chopin, & the Academy Winners
Jun 19, 2026
Starting: 7:00 PM
Academy winners perform alongside the Apollon Musagète Quartet and Frost School of Music bassist Brian Powell in a chamber program centered on Schumann and Chopin. The concert takes place Friday, June 19, at Newman Recital Hall in the Knight Center for Music Innovation at the University of Miami. Presented as part of the Frost Chopin Academy & Festival, the evening brings together established musicians and emerging pianists selected through the Academy’s chamber and concerto auditions.
The program includes Robert Schumann’s Piano Quintet in E-flat major, op. 44, a major Romantic chamber work known for its lyrical sweep, dramatic contrasts and close interplay between piano and strings. The concert also features one of Chopin’s piano concerti, with the selection determined by the winner of the Academy’s concerto auditions. Presented in an intimate chamber setting, the concerto performance offers a different perspective on a work more often heard with full orchestra.
The evening reflects the Academy’s focus on mentorship, performance experience and advanced study for young pianists. The Apollon Musagète Quartet’s residency at the Frost Chopin Academy & Festival is presented in partnership with Friends of Chamber Music of Miami.
