jamJamStrawberry: Strawberry Sweets
Aug 16, 2026
From: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Networked collaboration, soft electronics and live processing shape this durational performance by the experimental collective jamJam Strawberry. jamJamStrawberry: Strawberry Sweets takes place Sunday, August 16 at the Deering Estate Theater in Palmetto Bay. The free program is part of Subtropics: Audible Fields at Deering Estate, a five-part series curated by composer and intermedia artist Gustavo Matamoros that foregrounds listening as an active, perceptual experience.
Originally formed through long-distance digital file exchanges between Miami and Tokyo-based artists, jamJam Strawberry developed a sound language rooted in granular synthesis, glitch aesthetics, soft electronics and post-digital textures. This performance features Sony Mao and Emile Milgrim, with participation by original contributor Øivind Idsø and Tokyo-based sound artist and singer Moskitoo, also known as Sanae Yamasaki. Media support is provided by Barron Sherer and Deering Estate resident artist Freddy Jouwayed.
The program includes the premiere of a new installment in the Strawberry Sweets series alongside earlier works. Incorporating electroacoustic percussion, live processing and collaborative structures, the performance unfolds as an extended sonic environment that bridges digital precision with human presence. Presented in the Deering Estate Theater, recently enhanced with updated projection, lighting and surround sound capabilities, the event continues the series’ exploration of sound, image, gesture and environment.
