Jazz Encounters: John Yarling

A seasoned drummer with decades of experience performing alongside jazz legends brings his versatile musicianship to an intimate gallery setting. John Yarling's extensive background spans classical training, modern jazz performance and collaborations with artists ranging from Mose Allison to members of The Rolling Stones.

Jazz Encounters: John Yarling takes place Friday, July 11 at WDNA Jazz Gallery. Yarling's career includes performances with jazz luminaries Sonny Stitt, Nat Adderley, Lou Donaldson and Dave Liebman, as well as recordings with Curtis Fuller, Pepper Adams and Pink. His formal training includes classical percussion studies at Florida State University and jazz performance at the University of Miami, providing foundation for his work across multiple genres including modern jazz, blues, funk and rock. The evening concludes with an open jam session where attendees can participate with their own instruments. General admission is $40, with discounted rates for WDNA members ($30) and free admission for students with valid ID.
