Starting: 7:30 PM
Brazilian jazz, bossa nova and samba take center stage with Rio de Janeiro-born vocalist Rose Max and guitarist Ramatis Moraes at Westchester Cultural Arts Center. Presented Monday, November 2 as part of the JAZZMIA Nights series, the concert pairs Max’s vocals and percussion with Moraes’ acoustic guitar in a program rooted in the musical traditions of their native city.
Based in South Florida since 1993, the longtime collaborators have performed together throughout the United States and internationally. Max has recorded several Brazilian jazz and bossa nova projects, while Moraes’ career includes work with Brazilian artists such as Roberto Menescal, Tim Maia, Maria Creuza and Jovelina Pérola Negra.
The performance is followed by an open jam session at 8:30 p.m. General admission is $30, with free entry for students and musicians participating in the jam.
