Live performance and scholarly conversation offer an early look at the 2026 Frost Chopin Academy & Festival through the music and legacy of Frédéric Chopin. The pre-festival program takes place Saturday, June 13, at the Coral Gables Museum, featuring pianist Kate Liu and music scholar John Rink. Blending performance, interpretation and discussion, the evening introduces themes that will carry into the festival’s focus on Chopin’s artistry.
Kate Liu, a prizewinner at the International Chopin Piano Competition, is known for performances that combine technical precision with a reflective approach to Romantic repertoire. She is joined by John Rink, a leading Chopin scholar whose work explores performance practice, interpretation and the relationship between musical text and live performance.
Presented as a preview of the Frost Chopin Academy & Festival, the program gives audiences a chance to hear Chopin’s music in a conversational setting. The format is designed to connect close listening with historical and interpretive insight, offering context for both longtime classical music listeners and those newly encountering Chopin’s work.
