Journey to Día de Muertos

Calpulli Mexican Dance Company combines traditional dance, folk songs and classical music in a family-friendly story inspired by Día de Muertos. The performance takes place Sunday, November 1 at the Adrienne Arsht Center as part of the Arsht for Miami series. Alongside its theatrical narrative, the program introduces audiences to the history, symbolism and traditions associated with the Mexican holiday.
Día de los Muertos follows Lupita and Raul, a loving couple separated by treachery and death. Lupita journeys into Mictlán, the underworld of Aztec mythology, where she encounters its commanding queen, Catrina, and searches for a path back to her beloved.
Tickets are offered on a Pay What You Can basis, with free admission available and priority seating for guests who pay the listed minimum. Tickets are required for all attendees regardless of age, with a limit of six per household. Admission is first come, first served and priority entry expires 15 minutes before the performance.
A 20% discount on parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis at official Arsht Center premium parking lots. Guests may use the code JOURNEY when reserving online or paying through the onsite QR code. Advance online reservations close two hours before the performance.
