Joyce Billet and Amanda Sanfilippo Long in Conversation
Jun 13, 2026
From: 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Artist Joyce Billet and curator Amanda Sanfilippo Long examine public art in Miami through a conversation set within Billet’s installation in the Miami Design District. The discussion takes place Saturday, June 13, at 3930 NE 2nd Avenue, inside the Melin atrium. Centered on Billet’s project Forces of Nature, the program considers how public art can engage ecological, social and civic themes.
The conversation will explore the development of Forces of Nature, a project supported by Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places. Billet and Sanfilippo Long will discuss the role of commissioned artworks in public spaces, including how they shape daily experience, reflect community concerns and contribute to Miami’s built environment.
Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places is one of the nation’s earliest public art programs. Administered by the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, the program dedicates a portion of eligible capital construction costs to the commissioning, acquisition, education and long-term care of public artworks integrated into County facilities.
