Arca Images reimagines ancient prophecy through a contemporary lens in this bold theatrical work exploring displacement, survival and identity across centuries. Kassandra, written by Sergio Blanco and directed by Carlos Celdrán, runs October 16-19 and October 25-26 at Westchester Cultural Arts Center, with performances Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 5 p.m.
The production transforms the Greek prophetess Kassandra into a transgender immigrant navigating life on the margins of modern-day Europe. Through her rudimentary yet eloquent English, this reimagined Kassandra sells contraband goods while sharing her personal journey, creating a powerful fusion between classical mythology and contemporary reality that illuminates the universal experience of displacement.
Presented in English with simultaneous audio translation in Spanish, this performance is part of Miami-Dade County Auditorium's Away From Home Series—a program of off-site performances at alternative venues during the Auditorium's renovation period.
