La Corte de Faraón

A classic Spanish zarzuela returns to the Manuel Artime Theater with a large cast, comic intrigue and music set in an imagined ancient Egypt. La Corte de Faraón takes place Sunday, September 20 at 5 p.m. in Little Havana, with doors opening at 3:30 p.m. Presented by Caro Entertainment, the production brings more than 40 performers to the stage for a revival of the company’s musical comedy.

First performed in 1910, La Corte de Faraón is one of Spain’s best-known zarzuelas, blending operetta, comedy and musical theater. The story follows the arrival of General Putifar, who is welcomed by the Pharaoh and promised the hand of the young Lota after returning victorious from war. Comic complications unfold when the general privately reveals that a battle injury has left him unable to fulfill his expected marital role.

The production is staged in Spanish and features music, ensemble scenes and broad comic situations drawn from the zarzuela tradition. Caro Entertainment presents the performance as a full-scale stage production with a large ensemble cast.
